Bosnian talesI happened to be in Bosnia and Herzegovina during what is traditionally believed to be the most magic period of the year, when the regeneration of Nature is at its peak and Waters are under the highest influence of the Moon. I didn’t know it until I came back, but I felt it as I wandered through those mountains dense of minarets and foreboding. This is a collection of short stories that seeks to honor the divine feminine so palpable during those days: in the soulful gaze of the women I've met, in the thunder-song of rivers alive with untamed force, in the living fairy tales that unfolded before my very eyes. It’s said that during the war women picked herbs from the mountainsides and made teas with their pestles and mortars to stave off hunger and death. Birth, death, healing and regeneration. These stories come from what I’ve seen, what I’ve been told and what I’ve felt. |
